Dyslexia
Shared Symptoms
There are a number of symptoms a dyslexic person may demonstrate.
Difficulty learning the alphabet and difficulty with word retrieval or naming problems is a very obvious issue.
Problems identifying or producing rhyming words, or counting syllables in words is also fairly common however I am dyslexic and one of my favourite hobbies is rhyming poetry so perhaps the scientists have got that one wrong.
Difficulty with hearing and manipulating sounds in words is an acute problem for many sufferers. Being tongue tied is supposed to be attributable to shyness but in fact it can sometimes be because people are able to think quicker than they can say the actual words.
Reading and spelling Spelling errors. A common problem that is identified by the difficulty learning the difference between letters and sounds. People with dyslexia might tend to misspell words, or leave vowels out of words. The irony is that this is not proven. I won a reading competition and my spelling is fine yet I regularly demonstrate the tendency to place letters the wrong way around. This is called "letter order"
Phoneticised spelling is also an issue where people commonly spell words inconsistently, but in a highly produce words phonetically. Dyslexic people also typically have difficulty distinguishing the difference between "their" and "there".
Dylsexic people generally have a very good long term memory. This means they tend to memorise passages when reading.
